Social Justice

We believe we have a just God. We also know that we live in an unjust world and therefore feel our Christian obligation is to do whatever we can to help rectify the situation.

We also believe that prayer should be supported by social action and so as a church and as individuals we have supported many past and current justice campaigns.

The Fair Trading Place

"Stop the Traffik" (click on key above for www)

This day marked the 200th anniversary of the Abolition of the Slave trade Act coming into force.

The anniversary day was a day of celebration but people trafficking is still happening. It is the fastest growing means by which people are forced into slavery today. It is the third largest source of income for organised crime, exceeded only by drugs and arms trafficking.

It is one of the world’s fastest growing illegal industries.

It is devastating the lives of millions of men, women and children each year.

STOP THE TRAFFIK is a national campaign, to create an awareness and understanding of this worldwide problem. The campaign is calling for change. Its aims are to …

Prevent the sale of people

Prosecute the traffikers

Protect the victims

Several years ago members of our church were involved in starting a fair trade shop - located in our church hall. In little time at all it had outgrown the premises and the organisers took up an opportunity of opening 'The Fair Trading Place' in the village Market Place. The intention was to raise the profile of the Fair Trade movement - which it has with wonderful success! Please come and visit - there's always a warm welcome...

The FAIRTRADE Mark is an independent consumer label which appears on products as an independent guarantee that disadvantaged producers in the developing world are getting a better deal.

It's time to blow the whistle!

What does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God’. Micah 6:8.

Global Poverty is a sin- It’s time to blow the whistle!

Join the Micah Challenge and Tearfund in campaigning to remind our Government and other world leaders that they made a promise in 2000 that they would halve poverty by 2015 (through the Millennium Development Goals). This summer marks the half way point but many of the goals are in danger of not being met. Please sign and send the Micah Challenge ‘blow the whistle’ postcard.
